Remy vs. Nicki , Round 1

Remy vs. Nicki , Round 1

So it seems Remy Ma has made a resurgence with last weeks lyrical assault on Nicki Minaj.  And "Shether" ( did I spell that right?) is indeed impressive work.  I listened to a live performance of the song and Remy definitely sounds motivated & hungry......

Yes, there is a but.

I'm hoping that when the hype subsides, the people remember exactly how dope Nicki Minaj is-  hits are not at all easy to manufacture and it's highly doubtful Remy will get anywhere close to Nicki in that category....there is not enough time, is there now?  In addition to hits though - Nicki has pushed far more boundaries musically/lyrically........and really come ON-

Nicki's verse on "Monster" ?!?!?!  One of the best, and possibly the most creative, verses on that album ( and that album is Kanye's Best Album, more on that later)!

*Insert Sports analogies here*  When Connecticut's Ladies Basketball team finally loses will we forget the streak? Nah...........Muhammad Ali lost his last fight to someone whose name we don't remember ......Michael Jordan got crossed over by A.I. and blocked by Prince Paul, there is no question as to who is greater though....

Back to Remy;  Hopefully she takes this current spotlight and directs us to her body of work so we can gain more appreciation for her work.  If that work exists?

Anyway, this is not to say Remy Ma isn't good- she is very.  She is just not as good as Nicki.  Check the history.

Bake Something.

My mother in law made brownies today and the smell was fantastic.  I encourage my homies to take timeout of their busy lives and slow down by baking brownies.  Peace.

Part II

Part II

YO! This is ABout new rap song and video I had the pleasure of creating w/ the director Philip Carrel.  Multiple locations, many actors, very cool extras, a great production team, and many more behind the scenes players contributed to make this video great.

Although I'm slightly Biased, after spending the last ten years watching some of my favorite hip hop artists, bands, and artists gradually slide into the current state of horribly mediocre music videos (Yes HORRIBLY MEDIOCRE!)  It's very safe to say that this song and video will easily make the top 100 list this year.  Any list, any where, this should be on the list.  I've not attained that Kanye West level cockiness but I'm telling the truth.

Oh yeah, that's Philip in the picture.  I'm NOT talking about the benefits of people from different racial groups working together....that's a different blog.

My Favorite Things This Week!

1.  This "Frank Underwood 2016"  T Shirt!  I don't need to explain this, you get it right?

2. The every-other night debate in my head over which of these two is healthier:

Beer or Root Beer Float ?  No matter what, I win.

2 1/2.  "STRANGER THINGS"

3. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/part-2-above-below-tickets-26572635468?aff=es2

4. The Hamilton Soundtrack....still.

5. High School Graduation Open Houses.  They feel like the world is opening up in a new way and the kids are going to make it better for all of us.

Thoughts at random:

-I feel bad for Republicans right now.

-I just saw Kendrick ( yes Lamar ) spit a crazy verse on a Beyonce song AND he kinda hit the dance moves at the same time.  Amazing. The song was already dope and now? psht.

-I feel bad for Democrats right now.

-Racism in America is happening so don't be surprised to hear Black Artists addressing it.......which makes me wonder when White Artists that cite Black Artists as inspiration will speak on this matter in their music as well? Hmm....

-I need to go workout

-Afternoon coffee is great.

-I'm shipping a shirt to Washington, DC....and I DJ'd in Minneapolis, MN Friday...so basically I have 1/3 of the country on lock. HAhahahahahahahhaaha!

So today is the day I decided to write a blog post.  A very cynical & intelligent gentleman,  whom I hold in high regard, suggested doing so.  He claims that a blog would round out my website's content perfectly.  He says People love blogs, and the process will help me learn about myself ...learn why I do what I do.

And in fact,  There are many things I do that I still don't understand.   The list is long: procrastination, eating too many French fries,  avoiding emails, leaving the spoon in the coffee, staring at the grass, refusing to contact my biological father, buying another black tank top, using the toenail clippers to cut my fingernails, asking my daughter about homework right after school after telling myselfNOT to ask about homework right away :/

Sometimes when I can't sleep I have a moment where I ask myself "Why did you do that? Why don't you do this?"  Many times the answer is "I don't know."  This is a most frustrating occurrence.  Especially because I hate that answer when I hear other people use it....and I think I'm smarter than these mistakes I continue to make.  I'm not a writer, and this entry is already longer than I expected it to be, so I'd like to stop and thank you for listening.  Let's toast to mistakes and blogs and trying to learn from both.
